Hometown Project: Pear Blossoms

glazed porcelain, 2025

Having spent several years of her childhood in Gyeongju, the artist became deeply captivated by the city’s distinct atmosphere. Among the places she has lived in Korea, Gyeongju remains the one she considers closest to a hometown.

The Hometown Series consists of ceramic works shaped through memories of Gyeongju, and this second piece in the series centers on pear blossoms. Composed as a tea cup set with a tea leaf container, the work is characterized by rounded curves and a transparent glaze that lends the objects a gentle clarity. The saucers take the form of pear blossoms, while the container is shaped like a pear, extending the motif into a functional and sculptural ensemble.
